“Judge your success by the degree that you’re enjoying peace, health, and love”
Welcome! My name is Joonho (pronounced the same as Juneau, the capital of Alaska). I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Technology and Operations department at Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. I am working with John Silberholz and Roman Kapuscinski. Motivated by a multidisciplinary background, my research focuses on developing analytical/empirical models to identify/monitor/control dynamic systems, at the intersection of operations with marketing and engineering. This includes topics such as change-point detection and recommendation system. Recently, I am interested in energy markets and sustainable storage/battery operations.
Before coming to Michigan, I received my B.S. in Statistics and Financial Economics from Seoul National University (SNU) in 2016 and M.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2019.
I have several working experiences that shaped my lifetime goals. I co-founded and led a start-up for blind masseurs (ChamSonGil Cooperative), which recently opened its 11th branch in South Korea. I also worked at SK Telecom for over a year as a full-time marketer managing more than 40 retail stores in Seoul, South Korea.
